This workshop introduces the fundamentals of rope bondage through practical, hands‑on learning. Participants will explore how rope can create structure, restraint, and connection in both solo and partnered contexts. The session includes discussion, demonstration, and guided practice, with content adapted to different experience levels and tying styles. No prior knowledge is required.

This workshop is suitable for all bodies, experience levels, and connection styles, whether working solo or with a partner.

Fern (she/her) is a zany, queer, neurodivergent rope educator and performer who has been facilitating rope workshops for more than seven years. She combines her previous experience in outdoor education, and a decade of outdoor climbing, alongside a rope journey spanning bottoming, self‑suspension, and partnered rope.

Fern's diverse skill set and facilitation style blends technical knowledge with curiosity, creativity, and play; fostering spaces that encourage exploration, connection, and authentic expression through rope.

When selecting your experience level, please refer to these descriptions:
  • Beginner: new to rope
No previous experience, or only very limited exposure. I’m looking to learn foundational skills, concepts, and safety.
  • Novice: some experience & building foundations
I have some previous experience through workshops or practice. I know foundational ties like the single and double column ties, but I still need facilitator support to tie these and other patterns.
  • Intermediate: comfortable with fundamentals
I am independent with variations of single and double columns and can independently tie additional basic ties/patterns (e.g. chest/hip harnesses) without assistance. I have foundational safety knowledge and want to explore variations and build new skills.
  • Experienced: looking to refine and expand
I have a strong foundation in rope and safety practices and I am confident in independently tying a wide range of ties/patterns. I’m interested in refinement, troubleshooting, or more challenging concepts.
